The acronym ‘QRS’ stands for Quick Response Service
and is provided by the members of Seville Volunteer Fire Company to
the residents of Ross Township by assisting Ross/ West View EMS with
medical emergencies. Squad 251 is the primary QRS vehicle, licensed
by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and is equipped with a
wide variety of medical equipment including an AED (Automated
External Defibrillator), oxygen, an adult medical bag, a pediatric
medical bag, and other basic equipment that may be needed at the
scene of a medical emergency prior to the arrival of an ambulance.
In addition to the medical equipment, the squad has a
limited amount of equipment for fire fighting among which are
extinguishers, hand tools, cribbing (wood blocks used to stabilize
vehicles or gradually lift heavy objects), rope with hardware, CO
meter (to measure the carbon monoxide in an area), oil dry and SCBA
(self contained breathing apparatus).
All of our members are trained at a minimum in the use
of CPR, AED and basic first aid. The company has the honor of having
4 Paramedics, 4 EMT’s (emergency medical technicians) and __ first
responders.
This is just one more way in which Seville volunteers
serve our community.
Seville RIT
In May of 2004, Seville Volunteer Fire Company hosted
an extensive two-day training session taught by instructors from the
Pennsylvania Fire Academy. RIT stands for Rapid Intervention Team.
This is a team of firefighters who responds to a structure fire by
the request of the Command Post at the fire. The sole purpose of
this team is to stand by in the event a firefighter becomes trapped
in the process on fighting the fire and to go in and rescue
him/her.
Our team is ready to respond anywhere it is needed. In
the past we have been called into Kilbuck Township, Emsworth,
Avalon,
